The Strabane and Letterkenny Railway
Timetable for April 1910
Crossing in Glenmaquin
This graphical representation shows the Strabane and Letterkenny service as appearing in Bradshaw for April 1910. It is the only known timetable showing trains crossing in Glenmaquin, but perhaps surprisingly, there are no crossings at Raphoe in this timetable. Crossing stations are indicated by solid horizontal lines, minor stations with no crossing loop or crossing siding have chain-dashed lines, and unstaffed halts are designated by simple dashed lines.
Regular Service
The regular service consists of Trains Nos 1, 3, 5 (Down) and 2, 4, 6 (Up), daily except Sunday, blue lines.
Letterkenny Fair and Market Days
Trains Nos 11, 12 and 14, red lines, run for Letterkenny Market Days (Fridays, Thoms Directory for 1910) and Fair Days (8th of every month). No 11 Down runs Fridays and Fair Days, No 12 Up on Letterkenny Market Days, i.e Fridays, and No 14 Up is the Letterkenny Fair Day return service to Strabane, which continues non-stop to Derry (Victoria Rd).
Raphoe Fair Days
Trains Nos 21, 22 and 24, green lines, run for Raphoe Fair Days, (which were 1 May [Sun], 22 June [Wed], 27 Aug [Sat], 4 Nov [Fri] in 1910 per Thoms Directory) and every Sat after the 11th of the month for all other months (thus 15 Jan, 12 Feb, 12 Mar, 16 Apr, 16 Jul, 13 Aug, 17 Sep, 15 Oct, and 17 Dec). No 11 Down is shown as running Saturdays (presumably also non-Fair Day Saturdays) as well as Fair Days, No 22 Up is shown as running on Saturdays, and No 24 Up is the Raphoe Fair Day return service to Strabane running on the relevant dates only.
Bradshaw April 1910 notes that this Fair Day train will leave Raphoe at 14:00. However, this departure time conflicts with No 4 Up, so the schedule of No 24 Up has been put back by 11 min for the graphical representation above.
